Music Aid Northwest to honor Music Legend Susan Silver
Bellevue, Washington, January 24, 2020
Play It Forward—Music Aid Northwest’s (MANW) annual benefit that supplies funding for music programs throughout the state of Washington is celebrating its 10th anniversary on March 14th at the Triple Door and hopes to hit the $1 million mark in overall donations since its inception!
This year, we honor Susan Silver with our Washington Music Icon award. Susan is perhaps best-known as the manager for Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, but behind the scenes she is true musical community builder and educator, providing connection and support to artists and many of non-profit organizations that help them find opportunities and health services.
Play It Forward will once again host its celebratory, musical party at The Triple Door in Seattle. This unique gala is a fun-filled evening of incredible food, amazing Washington wines, and of course great musical performances!
Musical performances will include student bands and classical performers, as well as special guest, Merrilee Rush, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, and Harmonious Funk, one of the best show bands in the state.
“As Play It Forward has grown over the last decade, we attract more and more northwest music luminaries, and we are so proud to present the Washington Music Icon Award to Susan Silver, whose generosity and love of community is inspiring to all of us, “said Bob Tomberg, Executive Director of MANW.
Over the past 8 years, MANW has donated over $750,000 to 130 different music classrooms across Washington state. “With the potential multi-year use of instruments and sheet music, these donations will potentially influence 150,000 students over the next five years,” said Scott Ketron, Executive Director of the Washington State Music Educators.
The party kicks off at 6pm at The Triple Door, 216 Union Street, Seattle, WA 98101.
Help us continue to enable music students around our state, and celebrate this true Seattle icon at our 10th concert and gala. This is not your typical auction!
