Play It Forward 12 raises $300,000 for Music Education
On Saturday, April 27, Play It Forward 12 presented by PNC Bank raised over $300,000 for Music Education in Washington State once again breaking the previous year’s totals. Over 170 guests enjoyed performances by two student groups and a great rock performance by Supernova, a Led Zeppelin tribute band. Guests dressed in their favorite 70’s band T-shirts and 70’s costumes and enjoyed a fantastic meal from the Wild Ginger complete with hosted wine from Ambassador Wine Cellars and Sleight of Hand.
This year’s Washington Music Icon award winner is Kate Becker. Becker is the first King County Creative Economic Director and was presented the award by former state senator and former King County Executive, Dow Constantine.
Becker currently works to build Seattle’s creative economy, focused on the film and music industries. Prior to this, Becker led the Seattle Office of Film and Music for five years. Becker co-founded two legendary Northwest all ages venues; The Vera Project and the Old Firehouse.
Becker was a charter member of the Seattle Music Commission and currently serves on the boards of Music Policy Forum, SIFF and the Seattle Center Foundation.
