Play It Forward 10 Presented by PNC Bank Hits New High With Over $200k Raised
We’re Back!!! After a two-year pause, Music Aid Northwest held its annual fundraising event Play It Forward on Saturday, March 12 raising a record-shattering $210,110 for music education in Washington State.
“The Washington Music Community came out in a big way on Saturday for our tenth Play It Forward presented by PNC Bank. It was truly amazing to see everyone—without masks—pull together to support music education and fill the dance floor. All of the sponsors and gracious donors helped make this night beyond successful as we raised over $200,000 all while reconnecting with friends and live music. I can’t wait to see where the next 10 years take us,” said Bob Tomberg, MANW Executive Director.
Contributions raised during Play It Forward directly benefit hundreds of deserving students each year by ensuring their school’s music program is adequately funded. Two recipients of these grants—Franklin High School’s Drum Line and Lake Stevens High School’s Wave Vocal Jazz Choir—performed Saturday night, as well as local rapper, Matondo, followed by Neil Diamond cover band Cherry Cherry. While MANW normally does one round of grants per school year, this year a second round will be awarded this spring. With the success of Play If Forward, 2022 is shaping up to be our most generous year to date.
“I believe that performing and being confident playing an instrument makes me a more confident person today, in being able to lead a company and be in front of people”
